Captain Marvel saves the day (again)

fk Vardar 0 - 1 Dinamo Zagreb
By The Outsider

What would Zagreb do without Ivo Rados? The homegrown star forward once again served notice of his immense potential with his second goal in as many games, made all the more precious by the fact that it came deep in injury time.

In what many termed to be one of the last deciding matches of the season, Zagreb were stretched by their opponents in a gritty match. The home side were determined not to go down easily, as evidenced by the total of 4 yellow cards dished out to the team. Zagreb were not having it too easy either, with midfielders Iñaki and Luis González not really able to control the game. Olexandr Buryi was much improved after a lacklustre performance in the previous game but it was again Rados who was playing the midfield like a chess grandmaster.

Gogo Jocev in goal for Vardar was being tested by some stinging shots from the Zagreb strikers Lee Song and Juan Manuel Gutiérrez de Cos, and was equal to the task after Arne Repvik executed a splendid overhead kick from the visitors' lone corner. However, the home defence was holding strong, howled on by their brilliant home support.

As the game seemed destined for a goaless stalemate at the City Stadium, Iñaki swung a probing cross into the Vardar box and out popped Rados to head the ball strongly past Jocev to the glee of the small band of travelling supporters.
